My Grandma Della was a truly amazing Grandmother and I am so fortunate to have a lifetime of special memories with her. It is difficult to pick just any one memory in particular to share here, but some of the first that come to mind are shopping for shoes as a child (and always getting whichever ones I wanted), ice skating on the Horse-Shoe, playing golf at Lac Pelletier and when her and Allen would visit us at our home in Saskatoon. Grandma always made every moment together special and memorable with her caring, patience and grace. We will miss her greatly!

The smell of fresh baked buns and homemade dill pickles bring back fond memories of the many visits our family made to see Aunt Della and our cousins at their farm on the Grandview Flats. Family was a very integral part of growing up. Our Mom (Rose) and Aunt Della were very close and remained that way even when Aunt Della moved her family to Swift Current. Every summer we would gather in Vernon for family picnics at either Polson Park, Kin Beach or Ellison Park with the Griffith’s and any of Alberta or California families that might be visiting. In later years, Mom and Aunt Della often connected with their sister Grace at our farm at the Horseshoe Canyon near Drumheller. During one of Aunt Della’s visits we were still living in our little old farm house and she told me it was my “Little House on the Prairie”. She could always see the best in everything. It was also during these visits our children (Megan & Joe) got to know the kind, giving and gentle Aunt that I grew up knowing. Jack and I were blessed to have traveled to Swift Current with cousin Doreen and Aunt Grace to reconnect with Aunt Della in August.
To my cousins Donna, Les, Linden and Heather our hearts are full of wonderful memories of your Mom and the visits we had with her. She will be missed dearly. I believe our Moms are now together again singing in harmony.

Memories of my Aunt Della start at a very young age when she lived on Grandview flats. Her home was full of love. I loved hanging out with cousins, riding horses and tobogganing in the winter. We were so lucky my mom Rose and Aunt Della were sisters. They sang in harmony (on the local radio station) and past on the love of singing to my sisters and me. A life well - lived, A heart well loved, "You are my Sunshine" with love Renee, Rick, Natasha (Devin), Keenan (Natalie, Makenna and Ryker)

We were all very sad to hear about the passing of Aunt Della, sister to my mother Rose who we lost in 2021. They were great friends, and Della was sad to lose her little sister so early. Aunt Della was the kindest, sweetest and most gentle person. She was an angel watching over us all and she loved and took pride in her family. I have fond memories of visiting her in the early 1960's at her small farm on Grandview Flats - riding horses and tobogganing with my cousins and enjoying fresh baked buns and homemade pickles. At night she would roll our hair into tight prickly curlers so that we would wake up in the morning with beautiful angel like curls. She was so remarkably loving and nurturing. I visited her in Swift Current as a teenager in the early 1970's and recall driving across the prairies singing her favorite song at the time "Let it Be". I believe the lyrics were inspirational to her and I can still hear her angel voice harmonizing with us. Family events were important - she helped celebrate my wedding to Greg in 1986, and the arrival of my three daughters Tegan, Aliya and Nitara in the 1990's, and we always enjoyed having her visit us in Vancouver, seeing her in the Okanagan when her and Alan would go to Vernon to visit Harry and Rose, and of course at the Lainchbury reunions. She was always interested to know how everyone was doing and so sincerely shared her love. To my sweet Aunt Della, I wish you peace and know you will be singing with the angels and your sister Rose. To my cousins and their families, we send our deepest sympathies. It is so hard to lose those we love and cherish, but there is no greater thing in life then to be loved and to give love and this is Della's legacy. We will hold her in our hearts and see her star brightly shine. Love Vesta, Greg, Tegan (Adam), Aliya (Gavin), and Nitara (Michael).
