Gladys, I have many wonderful memories of spending time at your home while we were growing up together as school friends. Living only about 3 blocks apart made it very easy to spend time together at each other's places. I remember always feeling very welcomed by your Mom. I remember going with you to your house right after school, often to the smell of homebaking filling our senses immediately upon opening the door. I remember always chatting very easily with your Mom. Her questions of interest, easy laughter and kind teasing always made me feel more than welcome at your house. Over the years as we grew older, our paths didn't cross that often, but whenever there was an opportunity to say hello for a few moments, those questions of interest, easy laughter and kind teasing had not waned a bit! But, among all the memories, the one that inspired me most about your Mom was her open declaration of her Faith & Love in her Lord and Saviour. She was a special lady in many ways and I was Blessed to know her. We will be thinking of you and praying for you in the days to come. As you feel the loss of your dearly-loved and precious Mother, we pray that all your cherished memories and the Legacy of Faith she left behind will bring you great comfort and strength. I met Helen when she moved into The Meadows Long-Term Care facility. Helen and I developed a bond even though she was much wiser but I was and still am a smarty pants. Age made no difference in our friendship. My favorite memory that became a daily thing was to ensure she had tea or coffee using her two-handled Elf Cup as it was easier and safer for Helen to manage because of arthritis in her hands. Thank you Helen for your kindness and laughter while on earth. Heaven gained another angel. Also, thank you Gladys and Judy for including me in your mother's life. I have many good memories of being at the Funk home in Swift Current as I spend time with my good friend Judy during our high school years. She was my second “Mom” during that time and I remember her hugs and laughter and love for me. She was also a good friend to my parents as they pastored the EMC church in Swift Current. My love and sympathy go out to Judy, Leonard and Gladys as they mourn the earthly loss of their mother and yet rejoice that she is at home with her Saviour. Love and hugs, Twylla (Dueck) Sutton
