Obituary of Helen Vogt

Helen (Lepp) Vogt passed away peacefully on Feb 22, 2023, at Herbert Integrated Facility in Herbert SK. at the age of 93 years. Though we, as a family, are sad she is no longer with us, we are equally grateful that she is now in her Heavenly Home. Helen was raised in the Gouldtown area, and after marrying Cornelius Vogt, spent most of her life on a farm in the Glen Kerr/Morse community. She was a very active partner in farming, including gardening, assisting with livestock, and raising chickens. Helen also was talented in quilting, sewing, cooking, and baking, but her greatest gift was the gift of hospitality. Anyone stopping by for a visit would leave with a full heart and a full belly.

Mom's greatest love was caring for her family of six daughters and two sons — Florence (Albert) Woelk, Harvey Vogt (deceased April 27, 2023), Doreen (James) Kozan, Sharon (Melvin) Nickel, Carol (Vincent) Yoner, Marlene (Ken Fahlman) Thomson, Rhonda (Jeffrey) Heinrichs, and Kelly Vogt. The love for her family extended to her 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her youngest sibling, Mary Koop, and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius; her parents, Aaron and Helena Lepp; son-in[1]law, Douglas Thomson; great-granddaughter, Ruth Lichtman; and siblings, Katherine, Annie, Jake, Henry, and Susie.

Helen moved from the farm to Herbert Sunrise Homes in 2013. In 2015, she moved into the Prairie Winds Estate Home, where she resided for the next six years. In 2021, she was transferred short term to The Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home in Ponteix until placement was found back in Herbert. This was her last move to Herbert Integrated Health until she passed. Many thanks to the Prairie Winds Estate, The Foyer and Herbert Integrated Health Facility staff for the wonderful care given to our mom during her stay.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Eastside Church of God in Swift Current, SK, 2105 Adams St.
