Obituary of Lloyd Williams
WILLIAMS – Lloyd was born in Swift Current on May 11, 1926, to parents Tom & Annie (Breitkreutz) Williams. He was predeceased by his wife, “Minnie” Wilhelmena Koch May 11, 2005; daughter Donna Hahn (1998); grandchild Mark Sauder (1977), his parents, Tom & Annie; his sisters Violet, Jean and Florence; brother Ivor and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Lloyd is survived by his daughter Debbie (Gord) Sauder; sons Rodney (Karri), Larry (Pam), Barry (Patsy), Marty (Cheryl) and Jamey (Melissa); 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was in the Armed Forces (1944-1945), then 21 years with Canadian Pacific Railway where he spent some time working in round house with steam engines, working in the railcar department as a senior carman, car inspector and relieving the car foreman. In 1965 he started working with Mobile Oil and worked for 23 years in the Swift Current area as Senior Production Operator and Senior Production Foreman, and in 1987 he retired.
Lloyd spent many years going to Arizona, trips to Hawaii, places like Mazatlán and Cancun in Mexico and traveled the eastern and western provinces. He also spent many summers camping at Lake Diefenbaker and Lac Pelletier. Lloyd loved golfing, gardening, fishing, sports, attending Bronco games and still bowled until 90 years of age. He received his 60-year membership pin with the Swift Current Legion. Family was so important to him, and he loved being with family and the grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #56 in memory of Lloyd. Arrangements are in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle & Hayden Cappelle.
