Obituary of Roberta L Fernandes

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Roberta Lee Fernandes. Her warm and generous demeanor will be missed by her siblings Daniel D. Monteiro, Jr. (Felicita) Kathleen Andrews (Raymond), David DeBarros (Laurie), the love of her life, John Taylor, her daughters, Rachel (Brad) Millard, Jenniene Dupont, her grandson Jarod Collin and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Roberta passed away on May 11,2022 in Cabri, Saskatchewan.

Roberta was born in East Wareham, Massachusetts ,USA on January 25, 1950. She moved to Canada at the age of 10 with her family (Pauline and Harold P. Seright). They lived in Montreal and Vancouver before settling in Calgary. At a young age Roberta made the ultimate sacrifice to place her twin infants up for adoption. Two years later she was blessed with her daughter, Rachel Ann.

In 2006 Roberta was reunited with her daughter, Jenniene Tiba and introduced to her grandson Jarod Kevin. Unfortunately, one of the twins, Kevin Edward, passed away as an infant. Roberta was an avid crafter focusing on intricate filigree crochet patterns. She loved children and spent countless volunteer hours with the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. She worked at the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary for 30 years before retiring to Cabri, Saskatchewan with her longtime companion John Taylor. Predeceased by her mother Pauline Seright (nee Fernandes),  Father Daniel D. Monteiro Sr, Barbara Smith (Nathaniel), Richard Monteiro and Peter DeBarros.
