HIEBERT – Marlene it is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden death of Marlene Shirley Hiebert (nee Untereiner).  She quietly passed away at age 83 surrounded by her immediate family on December 23, 2021 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK.  She no longer has to suffer and is with the Lord Jesus Christ now.  One of her last words was, “I love you Jesus!”  She is a peace now.

Born on March 6, 1938 in Swift Current, SK.  She was the second youngest daughter to Adam and Annie Untereiner.  They moved here from the Ukraine in the 1920’s to make a home in Wymark, SK.  Marlene grew up in a large family of 5 girls and 3 boys.

She was predeceased by: Wilma (Christie), Patsy (Olsen), Heather (Giesbrecht), Bernice (Simmie), Ron, Larry, her parents Adam and Annie and her husband John Hiebert who passed away in 2004.

She was a loving, devoted wife to John, devoted mother to Leon (Vickie) and Traci; a devoted grandmother to Drew and Rachel.  She is survived by her son Leon Hiebert, daughter Traci Frigstad, grandchildren Drew, her brother Gerald Untereiner, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Marlene moved to Swift Current in her early years and married John Hiebert on October 18 of 1956 in Swift Current, SK.  She worked at Christie Grants in downtown Swift Current before working many years at Byers Shoe Store.  Afterwards she devoted her life to her children Leon and Traci in being a stay-at-home Mom.  She loved walking everywhere, shopping and going for coffee at all the stored downtown showing off her children.  She enjoyed talking on the phone to her many friends and family.  She was a member of the Catholic Church in Swift Current, a devout Christian lady who loved the Lord Jesus Christ.  She always went to church services on Sunday and instilled in her children a belief in the Lord.  She loved her friends and always kept in touch with them by phone or mail.  She was always there for her family and friends to lend an ear and offer advice.  She was a wonderful mother who was always there for her children, which she loved so much.  She was always putting others before herself.  We all will miss you so much Mom/Marlene, you were truly a wonderful, wonderful, special lady, mom and friend.  I promise you we will see you again one day. Until that day you will be forever in our thoughts and prayers.  Thank you for being a part of our lives, we love you.

Praise Jesus Christ and Lord God Father in Heaven for making all this possible.  Until we meet again….

A celebration of life service will be held in the spring by the family.
