Obituary of Albert Gaensley
GAENSLEY – ALBERT the family wish to announce his passing at the Kyle & District Care Centre on April 27, 2021 at the age of 93. Albert was born on the family farm at Kyle on November 5, 1927; the only boy and the youngest child to Louis and Elizabeth Gaensley. He lost his mother to cancer at the age of 9 and after which he was sent to Germany with his sisters to live with his maternal grandmother until the outbreak of the war. He then returned back. He spent his entire life on the farm, taking his schooling at Leyton and working with his father until his death. He then carried on alone, sharing harvest with brother-in-law Ken and cousin Dan. Over the years, he took several trips to visit relatives in Germany and Switzerland and also car trips to the United States with friends. His pride and joy was his garden and his cows. He loved his small family and looked forward to gatherings with them. He also looked forward to Sunday church services, annual rodeos and berry picking. His health began to decline following a motor vehicle accident in 2011. He was able to stay on the farm for a few more years, but eventually had to move to Southview and then to the care centre, all under the watchful eye of his sister Anna. At this time nephew Don and great nephew Dana took over farming operations. Albert is predeceased by parents Louis and Elizabeth, sisters Anna, Elma; brother-in-law Ken Bird and Ted Klassen. He is survived by niece Dianne (Don), great niece Deanna (Baden) and their children Connor and Dawson, and great nephew Dana (Kari) and their children Jessica and Samantha. A family graveside was held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Horsebutte Cemetery, Kyle, SK.
