Mabel Marie McLeod (nee Spitzer) of Swift Current, SK, passed away on September 22, 2020, at the age of 85. Mabel was born in Edmonton, AB, on May 25, 1935 and was the sixth child of Albertine (Buss) and Fredrick Spitzer. Mabel was predeceased by her parents, brothers Wilfred and Walter Spitzer, sisters Irene Paulsen, Florence Martin, Linda Anderson, sister-in law Carol Spitzer, brothers-in-law Leonard Martin and Clarence Paulsen. Also predeceased by partner, Mel Teulon. She is survived by her four children, Terry (Donna) Guenther, Neil (Karen) Guenther, Bonnie (David) Guenther, Ross (Gwen) Guenther, her brother Don Spitzer and sister-in-law Edith Spitzer. Her 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren filled her heart with love and joy and their pictures covered the wall where she had a good view of them from her chair. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Also survived by Mel's family - Mark (Gloria), Brent (Carla), Elizabeth (Brian), Todd (Bethania), Ward (Jennifer). Mabel's early years were spent in the Cooking Lake area southeast of Edmonton. Her father passed away in 1937 and in 1945 Albertine moved the family to the Hallonquist, Sask. area. Mabel enjoyed playing ball, curling, and bowling in her younger years, and when Mel and her spent winters in Texas, they enjoyed golf, shuffling, and socializing. Mabel's wish was to remain in her suite at Riverview Village Estates as long as she could and was able to do that with the kind, compassionate care of the Riverview management, care aides, kitchen, and cleaning staff. She loved you all. So many times over the years and especially in the last few weeks, we heard many times - "They are so good to me here." She also immensely enjoyed the friends she made and anyone who knew her, knew she loved to visit and have a good laugh. There will be a private family interment at the Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat on October 3, 2020. WEEP NOT FOR ME Weep not for me though I have gone Into that gentle night Grieve if you will, but not for long Upon my soul's sweet flight I am at peace, my soul's at rest There is no need for tears For with your love I was so blessed For all those many years There is no pain, I suffer not The fear is now all gone Put now these things out of your thoughts In your memory, I live on Remember not my fight for breath Remember not the strife Please do not dwell upon my death But celebrate my life.
