Mary was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on December 19th, 1937 to Henry and Agatha Wiebe. Mary went to school in Swift Current. She met David Schultz and they were married on May 22nd, 1954. Together they had 5 sons whom Mary stayed at home to raise and later in life she worked as a cook and care aid at the Palliser. Mom or Mama Mertz, as she was affectionately known as, lived her life on her own terms. She loved her family and her cats. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, reading and being with family. She also loved watching her boys race stock cars and was their number 1 fan. She always had a cup of coffee, some mints and time for conversation. Her grandkids loved listening to her stories, her mashed potatoes, her homemade buns and raspberry jam, her sour cream cookies and her hugs. She was a tough woman who raised 5 boys and lovingly called each of them ‘Sonny Boy’. She will be remembered as a wonderful Mom and Grandma and she always made everyone feel safe and loved. She will be greatly missed and always remembered. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
