KROCHAK – STEVEN we are saddened by the passing of our beloved husband and father but at the same time we feel so blessed to have had Steve in our lives for so many years. Robert H. Smith has said, “The clock of time is wound but once and no one has the power to tell just when the hands will stop”. For Steve, it was peacefully in the early morning hours of August 25, 2020 at the Meadows Care Facility in Swift Current, SK. Steve Krochak, one of 10 children, born to Harry and Mary (Nee: Madarash) on July 25, 1927. He spent his younger years in various small towns in Saskatchewan as his father worked for the Canadian National Railway. Education was always very important to the Krochak family. Steve studied grad 9 and 10 by correspondence and finished high school at St. Joseph’s College Boarding School in Yorkton, SK. He carried on his love of education in 1945 by attending Normal School to become a teacher spending the early teaching years in a one room rural schools. In 1949 he continued his education graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree and then getting his Masters Degree of Education in 1964. His career took him from teacher, educational psychologist and finally to Regional Director for Saskatchewan Department of Education. Steve was predeceased by his beloved first wife of 38 years, Nettie (Nee: Turevich), his parents, and siblings Bill, Frank, Nick and Mary. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 26 years, Joan (Nee: Leier), daughters, Terry (Peter, their sons Steven & Jeffrey), and Linda (her son Scott) and siblings Olga, Anne, Mike (Marilyn), Joe (Kae) and Walter (Lavona) and extended family members and friends. Steve was an avid sports fan from early on in life. This love of sports continued throughout his life but especially enjoyed golf and was and avid Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. He also spent many happy hours woodworking, caring for the yard, travelling to warm climates in the winter and enjoying the company of family and friends. He spent the last 2 years living in the Meadows. He had a second family there and felt happy to have had the opportunity to meet everyone. A small family service, officiated by a family friend and Lay Minister, Zoria Shumay was held at the graveside on August 28, 2020.
