Obituary of Iris Mary Penner

PENNER – Iris Mary of Swift Current, SK passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK. Iris was born on September 28, 1932 at Log Valley, SK north of Morse. It was here in the Vermillion Hills that she enjoyed farming until 1971, when she and her mother moved to Herbert, SK. Iris still enjoyed the outdoors and she also enjoyed fellowship in her church. She worked in the Herbert Nursing Home for 29 years and was also the caregiver to her mother. In 2009 she moved to Swift Current, to the Bentley - an Assisted Living Care Home, here Iris enjoyed the company of many other people, took part in various activities and always appreciated the care she received from the staff. Iris was a very caring and loving person who will always be remembered by her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Margaret Penner; sisters Irene Zacharias and June Wutzke; brothers-in-law Martin Zacharias, Paul Wutzke and Elwin Jackson. Iris is survived by sisters, Rosella Giesbrecht of Calgary, AB and Elnora Jackson of Regina as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremey Zacharias officiating. The Interment will be held at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
