Obituary of Edith Todd
TODD - Edith Gertrude was born on November 29, 1926 in Gull Lake, Sk. to James and Mabel Brown of the Verlo District. She was the third child in a family of ten children. Mary, John, Edith, Sarah, Andrew (Pat), Betty, Alfred (Mike), Lavina, Darcy and George. In the winter months as children, they took turns skating on the Verlo Slough as well as tobogganing, right in their own yard, as they lived on top of a hill. The neighbors kids would come over as well. In the summer they would venture over to Curries Dam for a swim. Edith took her schooling at Verlo School. Edith married the love of her life Ernest (Dick) Todd on June 16, 1947 in Gull Lake,Sk. To this union came seven children Lorraine (John Ramer), Leslie (Kathy), Russell (Brenda), Dennis (Linda), Glenn, Gerald (JoAnn) and Rita (Eric Peterson) and from those unions fifteen grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Edith was an excellent homemaker, with so many mouths to feed, keep clean and clothed there wasn’t much time left in her day so she took joy in watching the birds, and tending to her flower garden, as well as knitting, crocheting, making quilts and of course enjoying her grandchildren. When there was a dance in the area her and Dick would attend if they could, she loved to dance, as did Dick. They even taught some of their grandkids to dance! Edith loved to have company come but every once in awhile she’d get a surprise for breakfast, her children would bring home their friends, she never knew how many bodies would be coming upstairs for breakfast, but she’d just chuckle and feed them all! As their children grew older they took a few trips, some of them were, Hawaii, Las Vegas, the Redwood Forest, Niagara Falls. Edith passed on July 9,2019 peacefully in her sleep at her home in Autumn House. Sweet dreams mom. Donations in memory of Edith can be made to Autumn House, Box 630 Gull Lake.
