Obituary of Jean Lines
LINES – JEAN (nee Edna Jean McLeod) took her peaceful last breath in the early afternoon of October the 10th, with family by her side. She died in Cabri, her childhood home. A circle completed. She was born on the family farm at NW 20-19-17W3 on December 24th, 1921, the sixth child of Henry and Lottie McLeod. She grew up with 5 sisters and 3 brothers and had many fond memories of childhood days. After graduation, she attended Normal School in Moose Jaw. She became a teacher, first at Ohioville in the Pennant district and then at the Flats School near Cantuar. It was during a visit to the Lines’ home that she first laid eyes on a blue-eyed man with coal-black hair. Albert Lines smiled and the rest is history. They farmed together, danced together, had eight little Lines children together and still found energy to host countless get-togethers for family and friends. Dancing and making music was a big part of those many gatherings. A family farm it truly was, kin and cousins always welcomed with open arms and a cup of tea and cookies or full Sunday supper, never complete without dessert. Her legacy is in her children and grandchildren and all that she taught them – Carson Lines (Linda), Wendy, Bradley, Denise and Sandra Lockman and their father Larry (Patsy), Isabelle Estabrooks (Jack), Patrick and Heather, Bonnie Dunlop (Art) Robin, Bobbi Jean, Brett and Marnie, Jim Lines (Carol) Brendan, Katie Lines-Walter (Ron), Stephen and Morgan, Lexie Lines and April, Boyd (Marlene) Lines, Ryan, Heidi and Wyatt, Barbie (Blair) Golden, Chalci, Vaughn, Chloe and her many cherished great-grandchildren. She is survived by dear sisters-in-law Vera Leslie and Audrey Lines and Eleanor McLeod and treasured brothers-in-law Ross McLeod and many nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her husband Albert Lines, her son Carson Lines, her daughter-in-law Linda Lockman, her daughter Isabelle Estabrooks and son-in-law Ron Walter, her granddaughters Erin Lines and Sandra Lockman and great-granddaughter Charlotte Dyck. She was also predeceased by Albert’s siblings, Evelyn, Milton, Marguerite, Isabelle, Kenny, Laura, Pat, and Keith. Jean was the last of her siblings to leave this world. She was predeceased by: brothers Howard, Norman and Bill and sisters Louise, Lois, Hazel, Jessie and Nona. We would like to acknowledge the excellent care Mom received at the Prairie Health Centre in Cabri, the staff there truly making it her last home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19th at 2:00 PM at the First United Church in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. In memory of Jean, donations to the Saskatchewan Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society (Swift Current branch) would be appreciated by the family.
