Obituary of Clinton Dwight Nelson

Please share a memory of Clinton to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
NELSON – Clinton Dwight was born September 2, 1982 in Swift Current, SK, to Danny and Sylvia Nelson, a younger brother for Jason and Craig. Clint passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 12th. Clint is survived by his parents, Danny and Sylvia Nelson, his brother Jason and wife Corinne and niece Ava, and brother Craig Nelson. Also survived by his maternal grandmother Hazel Rude, paternal grandmother Bessie Nelson, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Clint was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Iver Rude, paternal grandfather Vern Nelson, and Uncle Van Nelson, and Uncle Darrel Rude. Clint grew up on the family farm north of Webb, SK, and attended school in Gull Lake, SK. After graduating high school, he attended SAIT in Calgary for computer engineering for 1 yr, and then after working for a couple of years, returned to SAIT again to complete his Exploration Technology. After completing his education, he worked for Danny contracting for Husky Oil, and then hired on full time with Husky as an operator, where he worked his way up into a lead operator. He continued to work with Husky and earlier this year when Whitecap took over Husky Oil, he stayed on with Whitecap in his role of lead operator. Clint was an avid hunter and fisherman, and spent many hours fishing with Jason competing on the walleye trail circuit. He enjoyed hunting with his long time school friend Jayson Louma. He also enjoyed travelling, went to several of the Blue Jays games in Toronto, and travelled to Europe with his friend Brent Wilson. He enjoyed watching Nascar, but never had the pleasure of attending a live race. Clint was an avid computer geek, and very well-liked by all those he worked with, but took his time to get to know someone before he would open up with them. In the words of his co-worker: “Clint was the quiet computer genius”. Lots of joking around, but even as the lead hand, he never once told me what to do, just jumped in to help me, most lead hands won’t do that. Not only did we lose a co-worker, we lost a family member, and a valuable member of our team. We will miss his witty sense of humor, and things won’t be the same. Clint was an independent thinker, and had an “I don’t care what anyone thinks attitude”, and will be sadly missed. Clint lived in Swift Current, and was a valuable help to Sylvia and Danny on the farm due to living so close, and was always there to help when they needed it, whether it was feeding the cattle while they were away on vacation, or helping with anything else when needed. The highlight of Clint’s year was hunting a near record elk not far from Tompkins. Donations in lieu of flowers, can made be made care of Danny & Sylvia Nelson for a trust fund for Clint’s niece Ava Nelson. A celebration of life service was held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Eagles Club in Swift Current.
