Obituary of Les Lansberry

Please share a memory of Les to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
LANSBERRY Mr. Leslie (Les) passed away in the early morning hours of December 6, 2016. He was 88. Les was born in Herbert, and farming was his life and his love, even after he took a job with the city of Swift Current in 1953. Les worked for the city until his retirement in 1989. There he was affectionately known by many as “Lester the Pester” since he was always teasing and playing jokes on others. When his wife, Doris, had a stroke in 1999 Les became her primary caregiver; and worked even harder at that job until her passing in 2013. After her death, Les had mentioned to several friends and family that while he was not afraid to die, he was concerned that he would die alone. Through the grace of God and the kind efforts of the hospital ER physician and nurses, his daughter was able to be at his bedside, holding his hand in the last hours as he passed. Les was predeceased by his brother, Harry; his sisters, Edith (Francis), and Helen (Toews); and his wife, Doris. He leaves behind his daughter, Sandra, son-in-law, Maurie, and granddaughter, Jennifer, who all live in Arizona; as well as various nieces, nephews and their children; and many many friends, young and old. A remembrance of Les will be held in the Spring/Summer of next year. Arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle.
