Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
REIMER Mrs. Lois Mae. It is with much sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lois Mae (Wiebe) Reimer, age 65, of Herbert, SK, at the Regina General Hospital, on September 17, 2008. Lois was born on May 23, 1943 to Tony and Mary Wiebe. She grew up in the Greenfarm area and attended school at Greenfarm and Herbert. Lois began a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior at a very early age, and was later baptized. After graduating from High School, Lois attended Bible School at Bethany Bible Institute in Hepbrun, SK. Lois married Abe Reimer on August 15, 1964. This union brought them three children, Sandra, Marcel and Tracy. Lois was a homemaker, but in 1978 was employed by the Herbert Nursing Home, where she worked for 19 years. Lois was gentle and kind. A woman of faith. Lois loved to spend time with her kids, especially her 6 grandchildren. Grandma Lois was infamous for always having gum in her purse, candy or bringing treats. Lois’s parents were also very important to her, which was evident by the close, loving relationship she shared with them. Lois loved getting together with friends for coffee or to go shopping. She truly loved to shop. Lois had many close relationships with friends, and family, especially with her sister and sisters-in-law and nieces. Lois always enjoyed music, whether it was singing or piano. She had a beautiful voice, as well as a beautiful smile. Lois loved getting her hair done, which was routine on every Friday. It was important for her to look her best and she always did. Lois was an exceptional baker. Her Rice Krispie and Puffed Wheat cake were her family’s favorites, but her homemade buns and butterhorns were the best. Abe would often say “my wife’s buns are the best” and I think everyone that has tried them would agree. Over the years, Lois enjoyed annual trips to Great Falls and Calgary with family and friends. The latest trips to both Great Falls and Calgary this past July, brought memories that will be cherished in our hearts forever. Lois loved all the family get togethers, but especially Christmas. She would always have her home decorated beautifully with Christmas carols playing and trays of cookies waiting to be devoured. However, many cookies made it out of the freezer before she anticipated. They tasted just as good frozen. Lois was a wonderful woman and we were blessed to have her in our lives. Lois loved her Savior and lived a life for Him. She was a woman of integrity, poise and grace. It is so surreal that she is gone. Hold onto the wonderful memories you have of her. Her life was a gift to all of us, and we are all better people for knowing and loving her. Lois was predeceased by her mother, Mary Wiebe, on August 31, 2006; and a brother, Arthur, in infancy. She is survived by her father, Tony Wiebe of Herbert, SK; her 3 children: Sandra Reimer of Swift Current, Marcel (Vicki) Reimer and their children, Jayden and Matthew, of Swift Current, Tracy (Dave) Funk and their children: Kennedy, Griffin, Cohen and Danon of Swift Current. Lois is also survived by her three brothers and one sister: Ray (Fran) Wiebe of Herbert, Lorne (Marje) Wiebe, Doris Priebe and Richard (Sharon) Wiebe, all of Calgary; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held at the Herbert M.B. Church in Herbert on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Cappelle officiating. The organist was Maryann Voth, the pianist was Elsie Peterson, the song leader was Henry Braun, and special music was by Luanne Schultz. The reading of the tributes was by Carol Goertzen. The ushers were: Al Jahnke, Ron Mathies, Roy Mathies and Ron Schultz. The pallbearers were: Bernie Andres, Garry Redekop, Murray Goertzen, Steve Harder, Don Fast and Murray Giesbrecht. The honorary pallbearers were her six grandchildren: Jayden and Matthew Reimer and Kennedy, Griffin, Cohen and Danon Funk, as well as all of her family and friends. The interment was held at the Herbert Cemetery. In memory of Lois Reimer, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the MS Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
