AKRE – Maurice “Mo” passed away at the Cypress Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the age of 94 years. Maurice is survived by: his daughter, Corrine Nimmo of Richmond, Virginia; his son, Vince Akre of Medicine Hat, AB; his granddaughter, Laurie Girardeau and husband, Bernie, and their children, Allison and Ryan of Swift Current; his grandson, Bob Akre and wife, Rochelle, and their children, Emily and Hannah of Outlook, SK. Maurice was predeceased by: his father, Peder; his mother, Petra; his wife, Ruth; daughter, Colleen; son-in-law, Bobby Nimmo; brothers, Alvin and Sanford; and sisters, Evelyn and Lily. A Funeral service was held on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home with Carola Anderson and Elaine Little officiating. The interment was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. The honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the rest of his family. A Eulogy was read by his granddaughter, Laurie Girardeau. Poems were read by great-grandchildren, Allison and Ryan. The ushers were Laurie Cobler and Stephen Guenther and the organist was Brain Anderson. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
