Obituary of Judith Blodgett

BLODGETT – Judith (Judy) passed away peacefully at the age of 73, June 15, 2017 at the Meadows in Swift Current, SK. She was born in Vancouver, B.C. on May 4, 1944. Judy was predeceased by her parents, Gordon McCoy and Marjorie Sillerud; sisters-in-law Dorothy McCoy, Judy Brilz, Beverly Tuchscherer; brothers-in-law Alfred Blodgett and Harold Blodgett; nephews Warren Blodgett and Craig Brilz. She is survived by her husband Harvey; daughters Helena (Nick) and Teresa (Scott); grandchildren Chelsea (Chris), Layne and Amber; brother Bob and sister Jean; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Judy was born and raised in Vancouver. As a young adult she moved to Washington, USA and joined the US Army and proudly served a three year term, traveling across the majority of the North Eastern United States. Following her career in the army, she returned to Vancouver. A few years later she met Harvey at her mother’s Art Show in Swift Current, marrying him shortly after in Vancouver. After starting their family they moved to Swift Current in 1976 to raise their children. Once the girls were older she started working at the Sun Newspaper, then went on to Spar Group, later taking on Entrepreneurial endeavors such as Hava Java in the Swift Current Mall. Judy enjoyed her retirement with cooking, spending time online where she created programs and talking with her twin sister daily. She enjoyed having her family around and spending time with them. At Judy’s request there will be no formal service. There will be a small family interment at a later date. In memory of Judy Blodgett, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
