Obituary of Bruce Mcgovern

McGovern – Bruce Lloyd age 57 years, of Surrey, British Columbia passed away on Saturday, September 20th, 2008 at Surrey Memorial Hospital, after a long fight with cancer. Bruce was born on July 20, 1951 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Annette and Raymond McGovern. He was the oldest of 9 children. Bruce was raised on the family farm in the Scotsguard area and went to high school in Shaunavon. Although he had worked for the Coast Mountain Bus Company in Surrey for the past 27 years, he held had a great fondness for the Saskatchewan prairies and had hoped to retire to that area. Bruce is survived by his mother Annette of Swift Current; sister Carol LaPointe of Eston, Saskatchewan and her daughters Tina and Annette: Lila Dumbleton (Dave) of Lacombe, Alberta and their children Dawn, Darcy and David Jr.; Debra Irwin (Brian) of Medicine Hat, Alberta and their children Jessica, Clinton, and Jill; brothers Patrick (Melanie) of Calgary; Dale of Medicine Hat, Alberta; Christopher of Medicine Hat, Alberta; Brian (Esperanza) of Swift Current and child Carlos David; his aunts, Lila McIntyre of Prince George, B.C. and Bernice Fournier of Medicine Hat, Alberta; as well as Bruce’s many friends. Family members to predecease him were his father, Raymond in May 2008, and his sister, Annette, in 1963. Funeral Services were held at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Admiral, Saskatchewan on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 10:00 AM. with Reverend Father Rick Krofchek officiating. Interment will be at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery at Scotsguard. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Pallbearers were: Patrick McGovern, Dale McGovern, Christopher McGovern, Brian McGovern, David Dumbleton and Brian Irwin. Honorary Pallbearers were; Buddy McGovern and All Who Shared in His Life. Parkside Memorial Funeral Home of Swift Current was in charge of the arrangements.
