MACLEOD Mrs. Alice May, aged 81 years of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away on October 21, 2008 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. She is survived by children: Heather (Jerry) Cugnet, Bill of Weyburn, Sheila Holbein (George), great-granddaughter, Braie of Red Deer; Gary (Jan) Macleod of Medicine Hat, Jamie (Misty), Jehri (Carolyn), grandchildren, Nicole and Austin of Cochrane, AB and three stepchildren: David, Mark and Becky and families of Medicine Hat; Myrna Campbell of Swift Current; daughter-in-law, Dona (Keith) Hope of Red Cliff, AB, Ashley (Rob) Pears and Karson and Konrad, of Prince George, BC, Donald (Starr) Hope and Julianna, of Regina, SK; sisters, Edna Baker and family, Regina, Linda (Darwin) Kramer and family, Kelowna; brother, Verne (Sylvia) Pleasance and family, Swift Current; sisters-in-law, May Taylor and family, Swift Current, Peggy (John) Mika of Victoria, BC; brother-in-law, Paul Paquin and family, Lebret. She was predeceased by her parents, Elsie and Charlie Pleasance; sister, Francis; husband, Jock Macleod; and son, Fraser Macleod of Red Cliff, AB. Alice was born on the family farm south of Tompkins on October 12, 1927. She was educated at Alpine School. The family lived in Castlegar, BC in the 1930’s and returned to Tompkins when Alice was 16 years of age. Alice married Jock Macleod in July of 1947. The couple resided on the family farm south of Webb until 1970 and raised four children here. They resided in Swift Current, SK, Kelowna and Creston, BC and returned to Swift Current in 1973. In Swift Current she worked for the Fish organization and umbrella services. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crafts of any description and baking, especially butter tarts for all the family and friends. Her family was very precious to her. She served as President of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary for a number of years. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkside Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Kiel of St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating. The honorary pallbearers were all who shared in her life. The interment took place in the Veteran Section of Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Swift Current. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Alice to the charity of the donor’s choice or to the Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
