MOEN, Lillian Irene (nee Johnson)
Irene was born to Lorentz and Solvey (nee Tangen) on July 18, 1922. On November 13, 2008, Irene left this earth to rejoin her husband Julian, her parents, Lorentz and Solvey;
her brothers, Lloyd, Earl, Amos and Dwain, and her son-in law, Wilf Yuzdepski. Left to cherish her memory are her children – Sharon Yuzdepski, Janice Kruse, and Clark (Alice) Moen; nine grandchildren – Pam (Brent) Kostyk, Jody (Cameron) Alexander, Lisa Yuzdepski, Todd (Leena MacKay),Yuzdepski, Jamie (Cornell) Srochenski, Jason (Brandie) Kruse, Heather, Rebecca, and Ashley Moen, and eleven great-grandchildren. Irene attended Jorgensen School until she was fourteen, at which time she remained at home to care for her mother and younger brother, Dwain. She married Julian in 1942. They farmed together in the Stewart Valley area until Julian’s passing in 1978. Irene was a wonderful homemaker. She loved cooking, baking and gardening. The coffee pot was always on and fresh baking was a common occurrence. The cards were always close at hand. She enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren Norwegian cooking – lefse, rommegrot and lutefisk. When she moved to Swift Current, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and socializing with her friends. She cherished and always made time for her family. Irene’s struggle with cancer ended at her home with her family by her side as she so wished. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at 2:00 PM. at St. Olaf’s Church, Swift Current with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The ushers were Norma Moen and Linda Ross. The pallbearers were: Jason Kruse, Todd Yuzdepski, Cameron Alexander, Cornell Srochenski, Brent Kostyk and Wayne Erne. A tribute was given by Irene’s family.
