Obituary of William Neustaeter

William (Bill E) Neustaeter, age 81, passed away suddenly Dec. 30, 2008, at Swift Current, SK. The funeral service was held at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Swift Current, SK on Jan 5, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Randall Krahn officiating. Pianist was Faith Krahn. Faith also sang a solo. The tribute was read by the family. Pallbearers were: Dustin Wiebe, Troy Wesaquate, William Neufeld, Katrina Neufeld, Albert Neustaeter and Ladger Neustaeter. Interment was held at the SchantzenfeldCemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. William was born the first of 3 sons on April 23, 1927 to Wilhelm and Katharina (Loeppky) Neustaeter. He was predeceased by his Father in June, 1971; his Mother in March, 1983; his father-in-law, Bernhard Kehler Sept. 1957; his mother-in-law, Helena Kehler in Aug. 1988; and one son-in-law, Bob Wiebe, in Oct., 2006. William married Annie Kehler, on Dec. 6 1953. Together, they made their home in Schoenfeld, SK, farming together with his parents. Later, they moved to Chortitz, SK, where they farmed on their own. Dad worked at several different jobs, one of which was driving gravel truck. This job included several projects, such as building Duncairn Dam, the building of the Trans Canada Highway, and other road construction. In 1972 Dad gave up his trucking job and began farming full time. Gardening was one of his treasured past times and he spent countless hours tending his prized vegetable garden that grew just outside the front of the house. In the late afternoon and early evening, Dad could often be found standing among the rows of vegetables or near the strawberry patch, meticulously spraying water on the lush plants. In 1999 Mom and Dad left the farm to take up residence in Swift Current, where they resided until his passing. William is survived by his loving wife of 55 yrs, Annie; 5 children; Carol Migneault of Japan, Vivian Neustaeter of Swift Current, Ruby Wiebe of Swift Current, Sylvia (Archie) Neufeld, of Wymark, SK, and Garry (Carol) of Chortitz, SK; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jake (Elizabeth) Neustaeter and John (Margaret) Neustaeter.
