PENO – Frederick Auguste age 75 years of Swift Current, SK. passed away Tuesday, April 28th at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current. The memorial service was held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Dan Romaniw presiding. He was born in Bracken on October 13, 1933 to Adolf and Daisy Peno. Fred farmed most of his life on the family farm south of Bracken. Fred married Ann Helm from Prelate in a double ceremony with Alex and Frieda Giles on December 12, 1960. They moved to Swift Current from the farm in 2001. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife Ann in 2004. He is also predeceased by six brothers and a sister. He is survived by two sisters, Pauline Rapley of Shaunavon, SK and Myrle Stewart of Red Deer, AB, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Fred loved the farm life and animals and also enjoyed fishing and old time music. He especially enjoyed socializing and visiting with people. He would always show interest in the subject under discussion by friends and family and was a good listener. He spent four years in the Palliser Care Centre after undergoing surgery. Fred had a spiritual side to him in that he attended the local Swift Current Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and associated with his many friends there. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Palliser and Cypress Regional Hospital for their fine care. Many thanks also to family and friends for their help and visits.
