SAUDER Mrs. Dora Theresa, aged 89 years of Swift Current, SK passed away on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Dora was raised in the Rush Lake District and attended Salt Lake School. After her school years she worked on the family farm until her marriage to Samuel (Sam) Sauder on October 26, 1941. The couple started farming on their own in the Rush Lake area. Dora enjoyed working with Sam on their farm, baking and tending the garden were two of her passions. In May of 1943, Dora gave birth to the first of her 8 children with the youngest child born in June of 1963. Raising her children over the next many years was another passion for Dora. In 1954, the family relocated to their new farm in the Beverly district, where they continued to farm until the summer of 1975. They then moved to Swift Current where Dora was able to embark on a new career working at the Co-op cafeteria. Dora’s serving spirit made her a favorite of many of the patrons. She loved her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nothing could bring a bigger smile to her face than their frequent visits. Dora loved to feed anyone who walked through her door. She often had a batch of buns rising in the kitchen and some of that dough was often turned into her famous cinnamon buns. Dora took her love of baking and preserving to a new level when she began to enter her many delectable creations into the annual fair. She received many plaques, ribbons, and cash awards over the years for her efforts. The church played a large part in her life. She was a member of the ELW and St. Olaf Ladies Quilting group for many years. She was a long-standing member of the Beverly Ladies Community Club.
