FLIEGEL – Irene Auguste (nee Haas) born April 10, 1933 passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the age of 76 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Irene was predeceased by her parents Wilhelm and Amalie Haas of Heubach, Germany. Irene is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Erich Fliegel, son Dietmar Fliegel, and daughter Doreen Fliegel. She is also survived by her special friend and family member Vivian Fliegel; grandchildren Liz (Chris) Myhre, Mike (Mel) Fliegel, Candace (Craig) Kenny; great-grandchildren Michael Fliegel and Caden Kenny. In Germany at the age of 5, mom started her love of cooking and baking for her parents and siblings, which carried on into adulthood. She graduated from high school and decided to further her knowledge in the fine art of cooking which she accomplished successfully. She met her future husband Erich at a dance and after a year long engagement they were married on November 6, 1954 in Heubach, Germany. In December of 1959 she gave birth to her loving son Dietmar. In July of 1968 they immigrated to Canada and decided to make their home in Swift Current, SK. In August of 1970, she gave birth to her loving daughter Doreen. Mom had many jobs over the years but the most important to her was taking care of her family, which she did with the utmost pride and joy. She always gave more than she received and will always be known for her love, dedication, and enormous kind heart. Mom enjoyed many hobbies over the years such as camping, gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, listening to music and was an avid reader of mystery novels. In the last few years she enjoyed spending her time with her precious little Pekingese, Asia, whom she truly adored and loved. Irene will be sadly missed by her family and friends. At Irene’s request, no formal service will take place. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Swift Current S.P.C.A. We’ll miss you, but we know you’re safe with the angels. Dietmar and Doreen
