KING, Mrs. Linda Elizabeth, aged 53 of Swift Current, and formerly of Sceptre, SK, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. A family Graveside Service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, October 10, 2008 with Pastor Rob Cochrane of the Church of The Open Bible officiating. A tribute to Linda was presented by her nephews, Matthew and Tyler Dickie. The Urnbearer was her niece, Janine Dickie. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Gordon King, of Swift Current; her son, Scott (Sharon), of Swift Current; mother, Georgina (Jean) Dickie, of Swift Current; brothers: Ron (Pat) Dickie, of Swift Current, Brian (Donna) Dickie, of Cranbrook, BC, Gary, of Swift Current; and sister, Pattie Dickie, of Lethbridge, AB; mother-in-law, Phyllis King, of Herbert; sister-in-law, Evelyn (Claude) Lambert, of Ponteix; brothers-in-law, Morris (Ruth) King, of Greenwood, BC, and Percy (Helena) King, of Unity; nieces: Kristi (Jason) Seely, Karen Dickie, Jenita Dickie, Janine Dickie (Cory); and nephews: Matthew, Tyler and Christopher Dickie, Bradley (Laurette) King, of North Battleford and Steven King, of Unity; great-nieces, Hannah and Makenna Seely; and great-nephew, Joshua. Linda was predeceased by her father, Adam Dickie, in August 2007; father-in-law, Walter King, in July 2002; and infant niece, Jolene Dickie, in 1977. Linda was born on March 8, 1955 in Prelate, SK. She spent most of her childhood in Sceptre with her best friends, Sherry Lecuyer and Rose Getz. Through Rose, Linda met her soulmate and best friend, Gordon King. Linda and Gordon were married on October 29, 1977 in Swift Current, SK. Linda and Gordon lived on the farm in Ponteix, then moved to Regina and in 1980 made their home in Swift Current. In 1983, Linda and Gordon were blessed with their son, Scott, who completed their family. Family was always the most important thing to Linda. It didn’t matter if it was her family, her siblings, or her friends’ families – they were all important and mattered to her. Everyone was touched by Linda’s love, kindness and caring heart. She put everyone before herself. Linda and Gordon’s parents were very thankful for her constant love and care. She will be dearly missed by Georgina and Phyllis. Her caring nature extended to everyone who knew her including the patients at the Prairie Pioneer Lodge where she worked for the last 28 years and the Palliser Regional Care Centre where her father and father-in-law resided for many years. Linda was a natural magnet for children with her famous goodie bags, surprise care packages in the mail, presents, interest in their lives and her Winnie the Pooh and puppy collections. Every Christmas Linda sponsored children through the “angel tree” and she LOVED doing it. Linda’s Willow Tree Angel collection will always remind us of the “angel” she truly is. Linda was the “go to person” for everything, any time we needed something, had a question, or just wanted to talk, it was Linda we called. Every get together we had, the majority of the organization was done by Linda. She planned everything and brought the majority of what was needed. No get together will ever be the same without her “taking care” of everything for us all. In her Mom’s words, “God takes the best” – Linda was the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunty and friend. We love her for everything she did for us and how happy she made us. Our family get togethers will never be the same with out her. We will miss you “aunty” Linda. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Please visit our website parksidefuneralhome.com to sign the family book of condolence.
