BALDWIN – Jeanne, age 90, passed away March 4, 2010 at the Palliser Regional Care Centre in Swift Current. Jeanne was born July 22, 1919 to George and Bertha Duguid on the family farm in the Miry Creek District north of Cabri where she grew up. She attended MiryCreekSchool, completing her Grade 12 in Shackleton. On June 8, 1940 Jeanne married Carman Baldwin, the love of her life. They resided in the Sandfordene area where they raised their four children. Her sister Myra (Bert) Hoogeveen was always an important part of her life. She was not only her sister, but also her best friend. Jeanne was a lifelong member of Shackleton UCW and the Sandfordene Ladies Club. Jeanne inherited her mother’s skill as a seamstress, sewing everything from curtains to wedding dresses, all to perfection. She was a great cook, always ready to feed company. Travel was a big part of Jeanne and Carman’s life. In 1988 Carman and Jeanne moved to Swift Current. Her world was never the same after Carman passed away in December, 1989. In 1999 Jeanne moved to the Prairie View Lodge, followed by a move to the Prairie Pioneer Lodge in 2000. In 2005 she moved to the Palliser Regional Care Centre. Jeanne was predeceased by her parents George and Bertha Duguid, her in-laws Thomas and Annie Baldwin, her husband Carman, her sister and brother-in-law Myra and Bert Hoogeveen, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Reita and Ed Leaf, and niece Doreen Morrey. She will be lovingly missed by her children Faye (Carmen) Olsen, Vernon (Donna) Baldwin, Linda (Doug) Roth, Carol (Brad Wall) Hill; six grandchildren Corey (Sheri) Baldwin, Candace (Jared) Bespalko, David (Angela) Roth, Brad (Marissa Hodder) Roth, Jeff (Diana) Hill, and Curtis Hill; eleven great-grandchildren Hailey Baldwin, Braedan, Deagan, Rylan and Layton Bespalko, Taylor, Katie, Ken and Courtney Roth, Kylene and Jared Hill; and nephews Larrry (Verna) Hoogeveen and Brian (Shirley) Hoogeveen. Jeanne was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by all. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at the Pioneer Lodge and a special thanks to the staff on the second floor of the Palliser Care Centre for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Mom. We are truly grateful. A family graveside service is planned for Friday, March 12. A Memorial Tea will be held at the Cabri Seniors Centre from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on March 12. Those wishing to do so may make a donation to PRCC Activity Fund (Palliser Regional Care Centre, Swift Current) or a charitable organization of your choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
