GUMMESON Helen Marie (nee Dowling) It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother at the Palliser Regional Care Centre in Swift Current on March 5th, 2011 at the age of 87 years. Helen was born Aug 13, 1923, the oldest of three children. She was raised in Swift Current and graduated from nursing in 1945. She married her one true love Ken on December 4th, 1951 and raised their three children in Cabri. In 1968, they moved to Swift Current and bought the Safari Motel. Helen’s life was dedicated to her children and grandchildren whom she cared for very much. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Phoebe Dowling; brother Jack; and loving husband of thirty nine years, Ken. Left to cherish her memory are her children Pat Gummeson (Carol), Mary Ellen Gummeson (Don White) and Cathy Hendry (Jim). Also left to remember her are her six grandchildren Lee; Tami (Paul Netzband) and Keri-Lyn (Alan Jones); Greg (Janna Hendry), Gary, and Kristen (Scott Gill). She will be greatly missed by her great grandchildren Nicole, Rebecca, Christopher, Ryan and Olivia. She was very proud of all of her families achievements Helen loved to read, liked to knit, was an excellent cook, an avid gardener and enjoyed playing bridge with all of her friends. Helen was a selfless woman who always put the needs of her family first. Helen will be sadly missed by all those who were touched by her.
