SMITH – Seymour passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Cypress Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Seymour was born in Vancouver in 1920 to parents James and Louisa Smith. Seymour was one of seven children. He later moved to Eldersley, Sask near Tisdale in 1922. Seymour took his education in Eldersley. He farmed for a short time and joined the army at age 21, serving in England, France and Holland. He worked for the local telephone company when he returned. Seymour married Grace Turner. One son Brian was born in Tisdale. They moved to Swift Current, Sask in 1955, to work with South Saskatchewan Pipeline for many years. Two more sons and one daughter were added to the family; Graham, Gary and Arlene. Seymour worked many years with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 56, as flag bearer, on the special committee and bingo. He was a proud member of the Senior Citizens Association and the Anglican Church. Seymour enjoyed his coffee friends and good neighbours. Seymour is survived by; his loving wife Grace; his children, Brian (Sjaane), Graham (Renee), Gary (Nancy) and Arlene (Bruce); 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He is also survived by five siblings. A memorial service was held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Stephen’s Anglican Church with The Reverend Jonathan Hoskin officiating. The interment took place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery – Veteran’s Section, Swift Current, SK. Donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 56 in memory of Seymour Smith.
