He is survived by his brother Bruno Wanner, Estevan, SK, sister in-law Anne Wanner, Red Deer, AB, numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Joseph (1970) and Eugenea Wanner (1971), brothers Raymond Wanner (2009) and Jake Wanner (2010). Lawrence Peter Wanner was born to Joseph and Eugenia Wanner. He attended school in the Maritenal District. At the age of 15 he had his own team on the thrashing crew. Following school he went to work on the rigs in 1953. In 1955, he began work at National Tank in Estevan. In 1957, he married his sweetheart Katherine Weinrauch. Four children were welcomed into the family in Estevan and they moved to Swift Current in 1965, when he was transferred as the Manager for National Tank. The family once again grew and two more children were welcomed. In 1977, his entrepreneurial spirit lead him to create his own business Wanner’s Oilfield Services Ltd. He was very dedicated to his work in the oil patch and was relied upon often for advice and his innovative ideas and in 1996 he retired. Although he was very dedicated to his profession, he always had time for his family. Many days were spent camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, driving the boat for water skiers/tubers and always time for the grandchildren. Lawrence was a spiritual man attending Sunday service, volunteering where required and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. His dedication was noted throughout his entire life, whether it be work, family, religion or friends. He taught his children to work hard for what they wanted and to be honest and respect others, or else you got a knuckle on the head. Lawrence loved his grandchildren and was always there as a spectator to watch the many events. Lawrence was the foundation for his family and he will be greatly missed. Donations can be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association or Prairie Pioneer Lodge Auxiliary. A Resurrection Mass was held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from Christ The Redeemer Roman Catholic Church with Father James Owolagba officiating.
