QUINTIN – Ariste (Rusty) age 90 years was born January 17, 1921 in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan and passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the Gull Lake Special Care Home. Survived by: His children Claude (Rolande), Bonne (Mike) Klink, Lawrence (Lynn), Gloria Quintin-Cuddington, Arlene (Rene) Poelzer, Adrian (Connie), 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Brothers Larry (Fran) and Richard and sisters-in-law Shirley Ann Quintin and Marg DeMars. Predeceased by: Wife Leila DeMars, Parents: Eugene and Armancia Quintin, Brothers: Rene, Ronald and Laurent, and granddaughter Hollie Erin Cuddington. Ariste grew up on a farm southeast of Gull Lake and was educated at Banks School to grade 11, then finished grade 12 in Gull Lake. He worked on various farms in the area until he met and married Leila DeMars on December 14, 1943. After trying to make a living farming he became a mechanic and worked in Saskatchewan and Strathmore, Alberta. He later returned to Webb to work in and then buy the Service Station on the highway at Webb, where he worked until he retired. A dedicated family man he worked hard to support and raise his family while remaining an integral part of the Community of Webb. He served as Mayor of Webb, on the Board of the Gull Lake Nursing Home, on the Board of the Swift Current Hospital and the Webb Recreation Board. He was a sports enthusiast enjoying hockey, baseball and curling in his younger days and embracing the game of golf in later years. He loved playing music and dancing. He turned his talents to carpentry after he retired building beautiful china cabinets and kitchen cupboards. A quietly religious man he was an active member of the Catholic Church all his life. Always willing to lend a hand, listen to problems and suggest solutions he was the favorite uncle of many, the beloved father and grandfather of others and a friend to many more. He will be fondly remembered and missed. Memorial donations in his memory can be made to Autumn House Independent Living 143 Green Street Gull Lake, SK S0N 1A0. A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Gull Lake with Father Prince officiating. The pallbearers were grandchildren: Kim Quintin, Shawn Quintin, Darcy Quintin, Todd Quintin, Mark Klink, Patrick Klink, Ryan Poelzer, Joel Poelzer and Brad Cuddington. The eulogy was given by Gloria Quintin – Cuddington and the organist was Myja Miller. The ushers were Bill Fee and Paul DeMars. The interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
