HAUBRICH – Katherine Edna, December 30, 1924 – June 5, 2011, formerly of Vanguard, Hodgeville, Swift Current passed away peacefully at Herbert Hospital with her son, Earl and wife, Marj and granddaughter, Allison by her side. She is survived by her sons, Calvin (Linda), her grandchildren, Angel, CJ, and Melinda, son, Earl (Marj), grandchildren Trevor, Allison, her son, Clarence (Connie), grandchildren Jeff, Tanya, Adrienne, Trevor, her son, Lynn, her son, Neil (Kathy), her daughter, Gail (Rod) Bartolf, grandchildren, Trista, Kendra, Kelsey, her daughter, Colleen (John) Hackett, grandchildren, Katherine, Debra, Stephanie, her son, Leo (Debra), grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, Alyssa, son, Laverne and daughter, Julieann and by grand-daughter Kim Bonin (daughter of the late Bernard Haubrich) and numerous great-grandchildren. Katherine was born to Anton and Annie Hornung at their homestead in Vanguard, Saskatchewan. She attended school at Easby School and graduated from Hodgeville School. Katherine’s interests and hobbies included gardening and helping on the farm in the summer. Wintertime would often find Katherine at the local rink, either curling or supporting her children’s various activities. Katherine enjoyed many hours of knitting and bingo. She was active and is a Lifetime member of the Royal Purple and an active member of the Hodgeville CWL. She was predeceased by her husband, Adolph, daughter Francis, son, Bernard, parents Anton and Annie Hornung, and brother Tony Hornung. The funeral service for Katherine was held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church on June 9th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Foley officiating. The organist was Deb Waldenberger. The ushers were Don Bochek and Bob Bochek. Pallbearers were Trevor Haubrich and Allison Haubrich with family, friends, and Herbert Heritage Manor Staff serving as honourary pallbearers. The internment service was held at the Hodgeville Community Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home.
