Obituary of Pearl Jaster

JASTER – Pearl Sylvia (Rude) was born on October 11, 1922 . She passed away on July 10th, 2011 at the age of 88. She is survived by her sons Larry (Linda), their children Loriann, Leslie, Lana and families; Allan (Vickee) and their children Rory, Tippee Lee, Del and families; Murray (Annetta) and their children Dean, Christopher, Kelly and families; and daughter Lorelei; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeased by her father Atle on Nov. 15th, 1960 and her mother Rose on Jan. 2nd, 1928, her loving husband Albert on July 7th, 2002 and her sister Lillie December 25th, 1992. Mom was born to Rose and Atle Rude in the Centre Springs area which is about 3 miles northwest of Rush Lake. She had a very happy child hood with the exception of her mother passing away when mom was only five years old. Her father and older sister Lillie raised mom in a very loving home filled with many good times and memories which she cherished. Her sister also had six children which mom grew up with and loved dearly. Even though they may not have had much, in her eyes they never lacked for anything. Her parents came from Norway and her dad had many stories which mom remembered and loved to talk about often. She took her formal education in Rush Lake and in 1942 she attended Normal School (Teacher’s College) in Moose Jaw. She did so well she received her first school when she still had 3 months of training left. As the years past she taught in many schools in the southwest. She met a dashing young man named Albert Jaster in 1943, they fell madly in love at first sight and married on April 8th, 1944. Mom loved to tell a story about one of their first dates. She was teaching at Rush Valley school and dad was supposed to pick her up at the school for their date. He was driving a Model T car down the hill and the brakes failed, he went right through the fence and around the school a couple times before coming to a stop in front of the window where mom was standing with the Superintendent of her school. Together mom and dad raised four children in a small house in Rush Lake which dad built in 6 weeks. Though times were sometimes tough there were many happy memories of her life in Rush Lake with her family and friends. In 1971 the family moved to Swift Current where she worked as a housekeeper at the Swift Motel and the Swift Current Union Hospital until she retired in 1981. Mom and dad eventually moved to the Golden West Manor where she lived until her passing. Mom enjoyed living there and made many friendships. She enjoyed playing bingo on Mondays, the birthday parties and other special occasions. Mom liked to read, watch TV especially curling and the Blue Jays baseball games. She loved listening to old time music especially her own children’s. She loved good times with family and talking on the phone. Mom had several health problems and survived cancer twice. The last few years mom suffered from arthritis, which made her life a little more difficult but she always carried on and wanted to stay in her home and that is exactly what she did. She was loving and caring to her family and friends, and everyone one who knew her loved her dearly. Mom remembered just about everything that happened in her life and in other peoples lives that she knew as well and many of them would come to her for information when they needed it. She was a beautiful, loving, caring little bundle of joy and will be missed by everyone who knew her especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved dearly. The funeral service was held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK with Captain Michael Ramsay from the Salvation Army Corps officiating. Donations can be made to the Salvation Army and the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements were in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home.
