Obituary of Eileen Dyck
Please share a memory of Eileen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DYCK – Eileen (nee Unrau) of Swift Current, SK passed away early August 13, 2011 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Eileen was born on January 28, 1950 in Morden, MB. Her childhood was spent on a farm in the Morden area, she was the eldest of 6 children.
After high school she relocated to Steinbach where she began working in the accounting field, which she greatly enjoyed. Many of her volunteer efforts continued to use these talents, as she did books for several churches over the years. Through mutual friends from Eileen’s work, she met Bill Dyck, and the couple was married December 4, 1976 in Steinbach, MB. They lived there until March of 1984, when they relocated to a farm near Swift Current, SK where they raised their 2 children, Leslie and Leon. Eileen and Bill enjoyed attending stock car races, day trips to nearby towns for coffee, trying different foods and experiencing different locales. Many hours were spent creating and beautifying the farm yard, as she always found the work therapeutic. Hours were also spent playing table games, and on the scrapbooks she used to tell her family’s stories. Eileen is survived by her husband of 34 years, Bill; her daughter, Leslie and fiancé Kevin Hildebrand; her son Leon; her siblings Gordon (Laurie) Unrau, Nancy (Dan) Hildebrandt, Norman (Joanne) Unrau, Ed Unrau and sister-in-law Dorothy Derksen and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from Bridgeway Community Church with Pastor Bob Cappelle officiating. The interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. In her memory, donations to West Bank Bible Camp’s Swimming Pool Project Box 1841 Swift Current, SK S9H 4M6 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
