HORVEY- Joseph Leonard passed away peacefully Feb.7, 2012 at the Palliser Regional Care Centre at the age of 89. He was born on the family farm at Cabri, Sask. on June 20th, 1922. He trained with the army in WWII & during that time married Elizabeth “Betty” Riddler on Dec. 29th, 1942. After the war he became a carpenter, then as most remember sold life insurance for over 30 yrs. He was active with the Royal Canadian Legion, Sask. Abilities & helped organize the Abilities Bowl. He enjoyed his family, people & loved to visit. His love of music always showed, whether it be singing with his brothers, playing musical instruments, marching in the 14th Hussar band or dancing with his wife. He has gone on to join his wife Betty, his parents Lars & Oline, his sisters Katherine & Cora, his brothers Lloyd, Oliver & Gordon & his eldest son Leonard. He leaves to mourn his sons Ken (Shirley) & Joe (Carrie), his daughters Leslie, Lyn-Marie (Dave), Janie & Laura (Tom). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews. Many thanks to the nursing staff (he called “my girls”) at the PRCC for their love & support. To Dr. Val for being there professionally & in friendship. To his fellow residents at the PRCC who become his extended family. Also many thanks to Ben & Helena Funk, John Regier, Ruby Wotherspoon & Lena Cowan. You were dad’s “Spiritual Leaders.” In your own words dad, “God Bless ‘Em”. 1Corinthians 16:14 “Do everything in Love.” At his request no formal service will be held. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Sask. Abilities 1551 N Railway St W. Swift Current, Sask. or the Palliser Activity Fund, 440 Central Ave. S. Swift Current, Sask. S9H 3G6. Arrangement in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home.
