Please share a memory of Fixme to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vera Cathy, aged 54 years passed away at the Cypress Regional Hospital on April 12, 2012. Vera was born on July 5, 1957 at the Swift Current Union Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Janzen (Matt); three granddaughters: Cassidy Janzen, McKenzie Janzen and Gabriella Janzen; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, John Janzen and Susan Janzen; grandparents; three uncles; three aunts; several cousins; great aunts; and great uncles. Vera attended school in Swift Current, she then spent many years working in the service industry. She loved working with the public, and her last place of employment was at the Swift Current Mall where she obtained her very dear “mall family”. She was a loving mother and grandmother that always took the time to be there for her family no matter what. She enjoyed spending time in her yard and had the greenest grass on the block. She was meticulous in everything she did, and took pride in it all. In her spare time she enjoyed playing her computer games and word seek. After her first bout with cancer five years ago, she was almost in remission when it struck back stronger and uglier than ever. Unfortunately this time she lost her battle. She is deeply missed more than words can express by everyone, especially her daughter, granddaughters, her special aunt and uncle, Phyllis and Pete Olfert, and their family, Curtis, Cindy, Jaylan and Josh, her cousin, Gary Olfert (who thought of her as a sister) and his family, Tammy, Jada and Tyrell. Mom’s special friend, Cheryl quoted: “a hundred hearts would be too few to carry all of my love for you”. No one will replace her in our hearts, but will be comforted knowing she is watching and guiding us. Love and miss you Mom more than words can say. “God looked around his garden and found an empty place, he then looked down upon this earth and seen your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. Gods garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain, he knew you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb, he closed your weary eyelids and said PEACE BE THINE. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone, for part of us went with you, the day he called you home.” A special thanks to the pallbearers: Norman Olfert, Doug Lautermilch, Gordon Schlamp, Jeff Schlamp, Lloyd Janzen and Bruce Hagman. In her memory donations may be made to the SPCA for her love of animals. The Funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Visit parksidefuneralhome.com to sign the family book of condolence.
