POLSFUT – Tina (nee Braun) passed away peacefully at the Palliser Regional Care Centre in Swift Current on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the age of 84 years. Tina was born on the Braun homestead, Sec 30-14-13 on March 22, 1928. She was raised on the family farm south of Swift Current, and after completing grade 7 at the Shaner School she stayed at home to help out with her younger siblings and the farm. She started working at the Swift Current Union Hospital, and was united in marriage to Emil Polsfut on October 13, 1949. She worked at various laundries throughout the years. Tina and Emil loved to fish, and made many trips up North with their family to various lakes. They camped and fished at Cozy Cove for many years, and she could filet a fish as well as anybody. Her and Emil attended many rodeos around the province. She did a lot of sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting in her younger years. She loved to play scrabble and various other card games, and in the last few years played a lot of solitaire to pass the time. She loved watching her favorite soap on T.V. as well as Wheel of Fortune and also keeping up-to-date with news and local events. She was an avid gardener who eventually became known as “weedless Tina” because of her aversion to weeds – whether they were in her yard or someone else’s. She always had a huge garden and loved to give away much of her produce because every years she said she was going to “cut back” with the garden, but just couldn’t seem to be able to do so until her declining health forced her to. She went on Coffee row in the Wheatland Mall on Saturdays where she would sit and visit with friends and family for hours. She was a very social person who loved people to drop in and have a cup of coffee with her. In addition to her husband, Emil, Tina was predeceased by an infant son, Earl in 1961, her father, Isbrand Braun in 1970, her mother Aganetha Braun in 1974, her brother John Braun from Salmon Arm, B.C. in 1989, her brother William “Bill” Braun from Pouce Coupe, B.C. in 1998, her brother, Isbrand Braun from Abbey, SK in 2000, her daughter Edith Shail, in 2007, her son-in-law, Jim Shail, in 2011, her father-in-law, John Polsfut, in 1991, her mother-in-law, Julieanne Polsfut, in 2005, and her brother-in-law, Scotty Richardson, in 2005. Tina is survived by two sons, Gary (Pauline) and Norman (Judy), and one daughter, Debra (Steve) Moen, all of Swift Current, SK, five grandchildren, Sherry (Brian) Essington of Armstrong, B.C., Amanda Polsfut of Yorkton, SK., Jennifer (Kelly) Fehr, of Calgary, AB. And four great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Anne (Isaac) Dyck, Betty Richardson and Agnes (Gary) Hastings, and one brother, Jake (Jessie) Braun, brother-in-law, Harvey (Lily) Polsfut, all of Swift Current, SK. and one sister-in-law, Judy (Brian) Batdorf, of Medicine Hat, AB. And numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. The funeral service was held on Friday, May 11, 2012 from Parkside Memorial Funeral Home with Cpt. Michael Ramsay officiating. The interment service took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. The pallbearers were Stuart Krause, Bill Harris, Doug Harris, Blaine Dyck, David Seibel and Jerry Monkman. In her memory donations may be made to the Palliser Regional Care Centre Auxiliary or the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Palliser Regional Care Centre for their compassionate care and support.
