KLASSEN – Isaac was born February 4, 1930 to Jacob and Sarah Klassen in Schoenfeld, SK. In 1945 they moved to Swift Current with his parents. Isaac worked at various jobs through the years and then found employment with the City of Swift Current and was employed with the city until his retirement. On July 1st, 1967 Isaac married Helen Born and they spent the next 37 years together. Isaac and Helen joined Zion Mennonite Church in 1968. Isaac enjoyed making his rounds and spending time with his nieces and nephews, playing games or just visiting. Isaac loved music. He taught himself to play guitar and played well. He also enjoyed listening to his cd’s, while driving in his van. Isaac & Helen enjoyed travelling and travelled to various places over the years always making time to stop and visit relatives along the way. In 2005 Isaac moved to the Bentley Retirement Community and resided there until he moved to the Herbert Integrated Health Facility in July due to failing health. On September 19, 2012 Isaac went home to be with the Lord, something he talked about often and was looking forward to. Isaac is survived by 1 brother David (Nettie) Klassen; sisters-in-law Gertrude Klassen, Mary Klassen, Mary McPherson, Nellie (Gerhard) Reimer, Mary Born, Betty Born; brothers-in-law John (Doris) Born, Jake (Annette) Born, Pete (Margaret) Petkau and numerous nieces and nephews. Isaac was predeceased by his wife Helen; parents Jacob & Sarah Klassen; brothers John, Jacob, Henry, Peter; sisters Sarah, Agnes, Mary and Margaret; brothers-in-law Peter Giesbrecht, Jake Tiechrob, Abe Friesen, John Wiebe, Peter Born, Isaac Born; sisters-in-law Justine, Anne Petkau and Sarah Born. “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” 2 Corinthians 5:1. A funeral service was held on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from Zion Mennonite Church with Reverend Herman J. Wiebe officiating. The interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. Donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Community 600 – 45th St. W. Saskatoon, SK S7L 5W9.
