Dunham, Arletta Jean: It is with great sadness that the family of Arletta Jean Dunham (nee McColl), announces her passing on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Arletta is survived by her husband Vernon Dunham, daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Habscheid, Mavis (Doug) Hoffman, and son Murray (Tanice) Dunham, along with grandchildren, Nicholas and Bailey Habscheid, Kaid, Jordon and Erin Hoffman and step-grandson, Tyler Byers. Arletta was predeceased by her father and mother Arthur James and Jane Margaret McColl, father and mother-in-law, Ole and Hilda Dunham, along with sister-in-law Margaret McColl, and brother-in-laws, Marvin Dunham, Elwood Dunham, Paul Dunham and Edwin Dunham, Walter Lofthang and Ben Wall and special friends, Myrtle and Floyd Hupp. Arletta was born in Swift Current on February 26, 1933. She attended school in Neidpath and Swift Current, followed by Teacher’s College in Moose Jaw. She taught at various schools including Spenst School where she met her future husband. She left her teaching profession to become a full time homemaker and she and Vernon raised their three children in the Waldeck area. Arletta enjoyed the simple things in life, always putting her family first. She loved to bake; making the best buns and cinnamon buns, along with a variety of cookies that she always seemed to have in the freezer to send home with family. She did not have the same travel bug that her husband did, but enjoyed a holiday to Ontario with her sister Muriel, numerous bus/car trips with husband Vernon, and Paul and Edna Dunham, as well as travelling to Mexico, Jamaica and Las Vegas with her husband. She enjoyed the many phone calls she received from family, but especially those from her brother Marshall, sister Muriel and close friend Irene Sundby. A private family service was held on September 27, 2012 at the Parkside Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Hall officiating. Pallbearers were grandchildren Kaid, Jordon and Erin Hoffman, Nicholas and Bailey Habscheid and Tyler Byers. The eulogy was given by Kaid Hoffman and Bailey Habscheid. Arletta was laid to rest at the Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff from Home Care; your visits were greatly appreciated by both Mom and Dad. A special thanks to Dr. DeKlerk and the many nurses who looked after Mom in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Noble Irwin Health Foundation.
