Obituary of Susie Thiessen

THIESSEN – Susie – passed away peacefully on November 5, 2012, at the Herbert Nursing Home, at the age of 101 years old. Susie was born to Sarah (Thiessen ) Peters and David j. Peters on January 27, 1911, in Plum Coulee, Manitoba. By 1913 the family had moved to the Swift Current area to farm, she was one of 13 children. She married John Thiessen in 1931, they farmed in the Pambrun area for many years before moving to Swift Current. Susie was a homemaker all of her life, she enjoyed her garden, looking after her family, and visiting with her family. She lived in her own home until 2005, she spent a short period of time in the hospital, then was transferred to the Herbert Nursing Home, this was her home until her passing. Susie was predeceased by her daughter, Irene, in 1938, by her son, Larry, in 1969, and her husband, John, in 1989. She was also predeceased by all of her siblings – 7 brothers – Jacob, John, Abe, David, Peter, Henry, Bill, and 5 sisters – Sarah, Agatha, Anne, Tina, and Maria. Susie is survived by one sister-in-law, Mary Peters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at the Zion Mennonite Church, November 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm, internment was at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pall bearers were: David Peters, Dennis Olfert, Terry Neudorf, Ken Peters, Barry Paul, and Michael Olfert. Those wishing may make charity donations to the charity of their choice.
