Please share a memory of Dallas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Myers (Loeppky), Dallas M. Age: 78, of Swift Current, SK. Formerly of Wymark, SK, passed away on May 10, 2013 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. On March 14, 1935 Dallas was born to parents Peter and Margaret Loeppky at their residence in Swift Current and in 1936 relocated to Wymark. She received her education at Wymark and Swift Current SCCI Schools. In her younger years she played on the Wymark Girls Hockey Team and the Boys Baseball and Girls Softball team, bowling leagues, going on hikes to the coulees. Following graduation, she went to work for the Bank of Montreal and then in 1959, she transferred to the Calgary and Lake Louise Branch. She spent time skiing and playing ball. During her time working in Lake Louise, she lived in the Farimont Chateau, which gave her many opportunities. She did some travelling in California in 1962, exploring the city of San Francisco and around. She then returned to Swift Current and worked for the Western Savings and Credit Union. Due to illness, Dallas had to change careers and spent the remainder of her years working in Restaurants and Hotels Industries in Shaunavon and Swift Current and also spent time working in the cafeteria at the Cypress Hills College. Her last place of employment was in the cafeteria and Cypress Hills College. She was a woman of many talents. She was artistic and creative, she had a remarkable gift of humor that was spontaneous, witty, and lasted into her final days. Throughout her life, she enjoyed fishing, knitting, drawing, playing the organ, sewing, square dancing, listening and watching any type of sports, she was a jack of all trades – there was nothing she could not fix from a leaking water facet to a roof, from a button to a lawnmower – anything broken she could tinker long enough that she would get it fixed. She met Merle Myers and they resided in Swift Current until 1980 and then moved to Frontier and Shaunavon. They lived in Shaunavon until retiring back to Swift Current. Following the passing of her husband in 1996, Dallas continued to live a life of independence. She became active with the Mental Health Association. She spent some time as a Board Member. In 2009, she moved to the Heritage Towers. This was a big change for her but a good one. She enjoyed her time there and loved the puzzle room and, more especially, bingo. She enjoyed the people and the entertainment, the dancing and all the activities hosted there. She was a kind, compassionate, strong and non-judgemental person. She had a worry for everyone else except herself. Despite all the hurdles life had to offer, she never complained. Dallas is predeceased by her husband, Merle in 1996; her father, Peter, in 1975; her mother, Margaret in 1980; a sister, Deloraine Seib in 2000; and a niece Adorie in 1970. She is survived by her son Robert (Doreen) Myers and grandsons, Tyler, Brayden, and Tyson. She is also survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Dennis) Dahl, granddaughter Cailey (Matt), and great granddaughter Ellie, grandson Shayne (Asako) and great grandson Yoshi; her brothers, Everett (Elsie) Loeppky, Leroy (Judy) Loeppky, Don ( Betty) Loeppky, Dennis ( Barb) Loeppky; her sister, Dolores (Hank) Heinrichs , brother-in-law Herman Seib, and Sister-in-Law Hilda Myers as well as special aunt and friend Susan Geiger, Aunt Molly Loeppky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces/nephews and cousins. Funeral Services were held on May 16, 2013 at First United Church with Reverend Sharon Ferguson-Hood officiating. The eulogy was presented by grandson Shayne Dahl. Pallbearers were Jason Loeppky, Larry James, Brent Lachapelle, Dennis Dahl, Robert Myers, and Shayne Dahl. Ushers were Roger and Linda Michaud. The music was performed by Lenore Wentland and Larry James. Scripture reading was offered by her sister Dolores. She will be missed dearly by everyone and we were so blessed to have her in our lives to teach us all about strength and humor. Donations in the memory of Dallas may be made to the Swift Current Branch of Canadian Mental Health or Stars Air Ambulance. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK. For further information or to sign the family book of condolence visit parksidefuneralhome.com.
