Obituary of Peltier Maurice

Maurice Louis Peltier was born Aprill 22, 1924 and passed away July 16, 2013 at Gull Lake, SK. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Peltier; his children Penny (Ken) Staresina, Joanne Opheim, Peter Peltier, James (Arlene) Peltier and Michelle Peltier (Werner Klinger); his step-daughters Barb (Kerry) Lundgren, Millie (Rick) Smart and Phyllis McTaggart; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law Hazel (Ron) Philp, Viola King and Lillian Power. He was predeceased by his parents, Phidim Peltier (1951), Emelia Peltier McDade (1982), brother Dona (1933), sister Muriel Duthie (1959), his first wife Patricia (1968), step-father John McDade (1988), grandson Cory Anhorn (2001) and son-in-law Garry Opheim (2006). Maurice married Patricia Power in 1945. He farmed in the Roseray district on the Peltier homestead and Panorama Farms with his father and later his sons. He was an active member of the community sitting on boards and committees, belonging to the Charolais Association, attending sporting and community events and participating in the politics of the times. He loved music and his drums and played with local orchestras at community dances all his life. In 1971 Maurice married Agnes Peterson McTaggart and moved to Gull Lake. They lived a busy life with family, friends and travel. As Maurice gradually relinquished more of the farming responsibilities he did woodworking, wine making and gardening. His saskatoons, strawberries, vegetables and pumpkins were distributed to the entire community. Maurice felt blessed to have lived such a full life.
