Agnes Leona Peltier was born August 29, 1923 and died October 14, 2013. She is survived by her three daughters; Barbara (Kerry) Lundgren, Millie (Rick) Smart, and Phyllis McTaggart; five stepchildren; Michelle Peltier (Werner Klinger), Jim (Arlene) Peltier, Peter Peltier, Joanne Opheim, and Penny (Ken) Staresina; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters; Hazel (Ron) Philp and Viola King, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her first husband Neil McTaggart in 1957, second husband Maurice Peltier in 2013; her parents Oscar and Mildred Peterson, in laws, Neil and Gladys McTaggart and Emelia and John McDade; son in law Gary Opheim, brother in law Garnet King and nephews Russell King and Neil Schlichting. Agnes grew up in the Pennant district and graduated from nurses training in 1947. She moved to Gull Lake in 1950 planning to stay a short while but met Neil McTaggart, which changed it all. They married in 1952 and had three daughters. When Neil passed away in 1957, Agnes was always so grateful to the community of Gull Lake for their support then and through the years. Agnes nursed and was matron at the hospital in Gull Lake, retired from nursing in 1976. She forever remained the nurse giving a loving, caring hand. She renewed her acquaintance with and married Maurice Peltier in 1971. They had a happy, busy social life together. The door was always open to neighbours and friends and an extra plate ready to be put on the table. Agnes enjoyed sewing, especially Christmas gifts for her family, cooking, baking, gardening and her card clubs. Every thing she did showed her attention to detail. Agnes loved her life, always feeling blessed by a loving family and lifelong friendships. Above all else, Agnes extended kindness to all and tried to live her life according to the Golden Rule “Do Unto Others”. A Celebration for the life of Agnes was held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Gull Lake Elks Hall. The interment was at the Gull Lake Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Gull Lake Special Care Home or the charity of the donor’s choice and will be gratefully received by the family. Arrangement entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. For further information or to sign the family book of condolence visit parksidefuneralhome.com.
