Obituary of Ruby Marie Greer

GREER – Ruby Marie (Neff), of Cabri, passed away at Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current on Thursday 18 January 2018 at the age of 90 years. Ruby was born on 17 March 1927 at Bayham Township in Ontario. She married Gordon on 12 March 1949 and moved to the farm north of Cabri where they farmed and raised their family. She worked hard on the farm and took pride in her garden, sewing, and baking. Ruby also loved spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors. Although in a care home, other than some physical limitations, she had a very sharp memory and was lucid to the end. Ruby was predeceased by Gordon, her husband of 54 years, parents, Orr and Mary Neff; sister, Velma (Monette); brothers Neil (Catherine) and Harvey; brother-in-law Melvin Phillips and sister-in-law Lorna Neff. Left to remember and celebrate her life are her children Cora Ann (Bob Mason), Hugh (Janice) and Linda; her grandchildren, Vanessa (Clinton) Lund, Jolanna Greer, and Katrina Mason; and great-granddaughter Ruby Lund; her siblings, Edna Donald, Muriel Phillips, Myrtle (Ron) Hopf, Ronald, and Janice (Nelson) Crafts, plus brother-in-law John Monette and sister-in-law Nadia Neff all of Ontario; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to the staff at the Cabri Prairie Health Centre for their ongoing care, companionship, and compassion. Ruby enjoyed being part of the activities and camaraderie offered at the centre and she became close friends with many of the staff, residents, and their families. We thank all for their friendships and for sharing their lives with Ruby. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cabri Union Hospital Auxiliary, Box 297, Cabri, SK S0N 0J0. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cabri Legion Community Hall with David Hagel officiating.
