Obituary of John Arthur Deg

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DEG – John Arthur, 95, of Swift Current, passed away Monday March 17, 2014 in Gull Lake, SK. John was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara, his brother Carl, sisters Lily, Mary, and Mabel. He is survived by his children Patricia (Ray), Karen (George), and Harold (Ginny), his sisters Hilda, Clara, Dorothy, and Evelyn. John was a very loving and caring grandfather to nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was uncle to many nieces and nephews and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. (John was a veteran of WWII; it was at this point in his life that he met Barbara and made her his bride). John farmed a large portion of his life prior to settling in Swift Current 35 years ago. He was an active member of Kiwanis, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and other community programs. John enjoyed golfing, fishing, and loved to play crib. Loved it so much in fact that he and Barbara had a moment of fame when John’s crib hand scored the near to impossible to get 29. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Gull Lake Care Centre Auxiliary. At John’s request no service will be held. For further information visit our website at www.parksidefuneralhome.com. Arrangements were in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home.
