WIEBE – Alfred J. – It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Alfred J. Wiebe on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. He leaves to mourn his wife Evelyn of 51 years and their son Darren; 2 sisters Irene Braun & Betty Ohman. Alfred is predeceased by his parents, Peter & Helena Wiebe, his brother Elmer, brother-in-law’s Stan Ohman & Jake Braun and niece Doris. Alfred was born on the family farm southeast of Herbert on March 13, 1941 and attended Shentol School. He attended the Herbert Conference Church where he was baptized and sang in the choir. Alfred met Evelyn in 1965 and they were married the following year. They welcomed the arrival of their son Darren in 1968. Alfred enjoyed various roles throughout his working career. He hauled fuel for Esso Bulk Station in Morse, he was co-owner of Herbert Esso Service Station in Morse, grain purchaser for Paterson Grain in Val Jean & Rowatt, farmed in Herbert, numerous janitorial positions including the Herbert School division, driver for Inland Concrete and was employed as a driver for the City of Swift Current Transit until his passing. Alfred was an active member of the Herbert Rodeo Club for many decades. He enjoyed fishing, especially at Besnard Lake and never gave up an opportunity to camp with family and friends, or tinker on a vehicle that needed attention. Alfred was a quiet man with a great smile, who was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need. Alfred’s favorite expression was, “got it done”. Alfred, you, “Got it Done.” A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Linda Hall officiating.
