Please share a memory of Amelia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Andreas, Amelia Pauline (1921-2014) Amelia Andreas (nee Dosman), 92, of Lancer, SK, passed away April 5th, 2014 at the Leader Union Hospital. Amelia is survived by her loving husband, Tom (Dominic) Andreas, four children, Louis Andreas, Joan Andreas, Fran (Keith) Murch and Tom (Sherry) Andreas; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Luetta Trehas; and numerous extended family and friends. Amelia was born December 4th, 1921 in Tompkins, SK, to Philomena and Louis Dosman. She was the youngest child in a family of four daughters and three sons. Amelia played banjo and accordion in the family band, and this love of music continued throughout her life. After completing her secondary school, she attended a teaching course in Saskatoon to enhance her natural abilities as an educator. Amelia was a teacher throughout her life. Many of her students still build on the excellent training she provided. On July 9th, 1946, Amelia married Tom Andreas. Together, they lived and farmed south of Lancer, where they raised their 4 children. In 1983, Tom and Amelia moved to the town of Lancer, where they lived together until 2012. Amelia spent her final days in the loving care of the Leader Western Senior Citizens Home. The family is most grateful for the care she was provided there. In July of 2013, Tom and Amelia celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Amelia served her church as choir director and organist, transposing, arranging and hand-printing many of the materials that continue to be used. Her fine hand work, artistic ability and discerning eye were expressed in quilts, banners, flower arrangements, and parade floats. Amelia also loved playing card games, especially bridge, baking, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Amelia had a keen appreciation for history. Her contributions to family, community, and church archives are invaluable. As an adherent to her faith, Amelia embraced and expressed her beliefs with unbounded love and compassion for all. Formally, she served as president of the CWL, catechism teacher, and active member of the Saint Angela’s Associates. A funeral mass was held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lancer, SK with Father Hoang Nguyen officiating. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada and Leader Western Senior Citizens Home.
