EICHORST – William Gordon passed away unexpectedly on December 25, 2014. “Bill” as he was known to most of us, was born on January 3, 1951. He went to school in Rush Lake, Herbert, OM Irwin Collegiate and the University of Regina. He then decided to farm with Dad and Mom. He was a Sask Wheat Pool member and on the local committee at Waldeck. Bill was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church at Rush Lake and a Member of St. Olaf for many years where he had taught Sunday School, was treasurer for the church and ushered on Sundays when he didn’t farm. Bill moved 10 miles north of Waldeck about 20 years ago. Here he had his own farmyard which he loved. The community was very good to him, as he farmed alone and often needed help. He often spoke of his good neighbors. He was a John Deere man as was his dad. Bill was very devoted to his cats Max and Felix and they ruled his house. He was a kind, quiet, gentle man who was liked by all. He was looking forward to retirement next year, had plans made, but God had other plans for him and we must accept them. Bill was predeceased by his parents Walter and Frieda Eichorst. He will be forever missed by his sisters and brother-in-laws Kevin & Elizabeth Sorensen and John and Leah Phillips; neieces, Hannah & Colleen Phillips as well as many relatives, neighbors and friends. We were all blessed to have known him. He is safe in the arms of Jesus. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld and the pallbearers were: Darcy Patzer, Todd Dunham, Kevin Sorensen and John Phillips. Donations in memory of Bill can be made to St. Olaf Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. The interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK.
