Please share a memory of Vernon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DUNHAM – Vernon – with great saddest the family of Vernon Dunham announce his passing on January 14, 2015. Dad was born on the family farm north of Waldeck on January 31, 1931 and was the 6th child born to Ole and Hilda Dunham. He was predeceased by his wife, Arletta Dunham (nee McColl) in September of 2012, as well as his parents Ole and Hilda Dunham, mother-in-law Jean McColl, brothers Marvin, Elwood, Paul and Edwin, as well as sisters Margaret McColl and Pearl Lofthang. He is survived by daughter Marilyn and her husband Robert Habscheid and their children Nick and Bailey, daughter Mavis and her husband Doug Hoffman and their children Kaid (Carmen), Jordon and Erin. He also leaves to mourn his son Murray (Tanice) Dunham and his stepson Tyler Byers (Lisa). He is also survived by numerous family on both the Dunham and McColl sides. Dad farmed in the Waldeck area his entire life and this is where he and Mom raised their three children. He was well known for his love of travelling and this took him to numerous areas within Canada and the United States, as well as to his father’s homeland of Norway. Hawaii, Mexico and Jamaica were places he also visited, and then he went to Cuba. Without a doubt Cuba was his favorite – 15 or so trips were made. Countless friends were made in Cuba and he was still in contact with many of them to this day. The family wishes to thank friends and neighbors who kept in touch with Dad over the past years. These friends filled the void of his wife’s passing. We also wish to thank Leanne from Medi-Gas, as well as staff from Homecare who made weekly trips to the farm. Dad so enjoyed the visits, especially from Irene and Kelly. A private family service was held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the chapel of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The interment took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. Donations to the Dr. Noble Irwin Healthcare Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
