MAXWELL – William Bill was born in England and came to Canada as a very young child. He was adopted at age four by Helen and James Maxwell. He was raised on a farm in the Cantuar district as an only child. He attended a one room school house until age fourteen. He then began his farming career. Over the years Bill also worked as a rural telephone linesman and drove school bus. On June 15, 1953 he married Margaret Sibbet and started their life on the farm, raising one son and four daughters. In 1967 Bill was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He enjoyed talking to others about the hope for the future. Bill enjoyed many activities throughout his life, making many lifelong friends along the way. This included playing harmonica, playing baseball, curling, fishing and camping. He had a strong love for animals, especially cats! He followed many sports on TV – Go Riders! And Hockey Night in Canada with a big bowl of popcorn was a family tradition! Due to failing health Bill was a resident at the Palliser for the last ten months. Two of his favorite pastimes he was able to partake in during his days at the Palliser were playing checkers and singing. He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Margaret, his five children, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
